Did you know that when you are stressed out that accidents are more likely to happen? It seems that when you’re stressed, it makes it more difficult to pay attention to the more mundane things in life. You know, like walking.
Two nights ago I was feeling incredibly stressed out thinking about stalker events, upset friendships, back to school stuff and the fact that this summer just flew by without my doing much of anything fun at all, my husband’s vertigo, work and very upsetting recent health issues with my extended family. My cats were being ridiculous, the kids were calling for rides here and there and then the dog decided to jump in and started to howl at the back door. When I got up to let him out, I caught and whacked my foot (hard!) on the leg of my sectional couch/chair/lounger thing. I don’t know why I did this. I’ve never done this before and it’s not like the furniture has moved or anything.
It hurt. It hurt enough to knock me to the floor. So, I did what all super moms and stressed out people who do not want to spend another minute in a medical facility do. I got up, muttered some four letter word (swearapy!) and decided to ignore it. I was sure it was just a broken toe and they don’t do anything for that anyway, right?
It hurt a lot through the night and yesterday morning, I couldn’t put any weight on the ball of my now indigoish colored foot. I tried walking around on my heel, but even I had to admit, I needed to see a doctor.
The x-rays revealed that in addition to my two broken toes, I have some kind of metatarsal fracture so now I have to wear this lovely, not very Fergalicious shoe and I have to see an orthopedic doctor later this week.
Ouch!
Sigh. No catboots for me for a while.
I guess this will officially put an end to my dream of taking off this last week before school starts and cramming in a “staycation” complete with a trip to the zoo, Six Flags and a few hours of pool time.
But wait, it gets worse. I know, how could it get worse, right? In addition to all of this, It seems the summer construction crews are playing a game of “Let’s Really Screw with The Rock Chick”.
We just received noticed by the way of these signs…
Are you kidding me?
…that tomorrow Hysteria Lane is getting demolished and replaced with a new street, new sewers and new curbs. This means that we can’t park on our street nor can we use our driveways for 7-10 days. The city has been talking about doing this for years and they wait until I break my foot to tell me that I can’t park anywhere near my house for 10 days?
I’ve included a little map here of the construction area. The blue line is Hysteria Lane, completely under construction and the red star is my house. I’ll have to park on the next street over and hobble through a construction zone. Grrrrrrrr.
Hysteria Lane
What’s a girl to do, though, except put her best foot forward, right? I’m going to do that in the cute ringed slingbacks I bought last week.
Cute, right?
Maybe no one will notice my other foot.
Are you playing Summer Stock Sunday? Head on over to Robin’s and give it a try! I’m sure your entry this week will be more entertaining than mine

Cute and hip! That road construction are every where – nightmare – but keep people at work for the summer – what can we do! I like Jovi’s photo over there – my fave!

What is it with feet lately? Is there a conspiracy afoot to keep smart, vibrant ladies such as yourself away from catboots? I mean Mary the Teach did in her foot. Then I did in my foot, but that only took out the comfy shoes crowd. Now you … Where do we go to protest?

Oh no, what crappy timing! Well, I guess there’s never a really good time to break your foot, but this one seems particularly bad. I hope it heals quickly and well and you’re back to your catboots in no time.

I am so sorry that you have another injury. Let’s start a “new year” right now — ok? Maybe we can have a year with no stalkers, back pain, foot problems, or any other PITA.
Get better soon, darlin’. Are you resorting to Facebook again?
