It never fails. It seems every time we have a major event happening in our house, Mother Nature gets insanely jealous and cries up a storm. It’s totally ridiculous because she’s always invited to the party, but I guess she likes being the center of attention.
On Friday, my oldest went to her Senior Prom and the relentless cloudbursts had turned the ground into a soggy mess and wilted the quilting on much more than a few maiden forms. We still did the indoor photo op and even though the limo failed to show (UGH!-don’t get me started), my daughter let none of it rain on her parade. She looked gorgeous and didn’t let it dampen what turned out to be a wonderful evening! See?
This was a big weekend. Besides my 3rd Blogiversary, JW and I also celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary. Yes, Mother Nature acted up on our wedding day, too. We tried to get some outside shots in between raindrops and would you believe that the wind was so strong that my wardrobe malfunctioned? Seriously, it did. It blew the veil right off my head. See?
(Sorry about the blur. My scanner is kaput and that’s a photo of a photo)
Of all my wedding pictures, that particular one is one of my favorites because we’re composed and smiling through a storm. We’ve weathered probably more than our share in the last seventeen years and we’re both still smiling just like we were on that day seventeen years ago.
(Our limo did show, thank goodness!)
JW is my life, my love, my heart. I’m a very lucky girl. He is and always will be my sunshine, “weather” or not Mother Nature wants to cooperate.

Wow, you guys all look so great. This is such a great post, kind of rolls two generations into one.
Great photos, of the prom and your wedding. 17 years, wow! We’re coming up to 16.
Your daughter is gorgeous!
Foot pads detox is good too.
Well in my case, our prom usually happens on March or April. That time, the weather is really hot.
Oh wow you guys look great together. That’s a beautiful prom dress btw.
Oh raining on the prom night…yikes! Hopefully they didn’t get too wet or muddy on the dress.
