Birthday Song

by Jessica The Rock Chick on May 21, 2009 · 5 comments

Today is a big…(huge!) day in the life of The Rock Chick. My incredibly amazing, gorgeous, responsible and talented oldest daughter is 18 today!

I know I’m a little biased, but truly, she is amazing and we are so, so proud of her. My eyes are already a little drippy today and I know that in two short weeks when we are hootin’ and hollerin’ at her high school graduation, I will resort to weeping willow status. Hopefully, all those tears won’t short out my keyboard so I’ll be able to tell you about it.

The “Birthday Song” isn’t the only song we’re singing today, though. Like Aretha, I’m also belting out freedom, freedom, freedom…..(oh yeah!) FREEDOM! Why? Well, because today also ends my eighteen year sentence in having to deal with with my ex-husband. I’m free from his degrading remarks, his irresponsibility, his lack of concern for Oldest Daughter’s safety and his excuses for not supporting his child emotionally or financially.

I know, I know..it’s not nice to talk that way. I’ll admit, it takes quite a bit to anger me and get on my shit list. I’m not much of a forgiver and forgetter for major offenses, so once on, it’s next to impossible to get removed. To date, no one has been able to do it, but you can make up your own mind and read about my hollywood style, tabloid-worthy four month first marriage if you’d like.

Or maybe you’d like to read how, a few years back, he ended up on the wrong side of My Catboots.
Or perhaps the time I compared him to Britney Spears. I do need to apologize to Britney for that.

I’ve been released and it feels freakin’ fantastic! Tomorrow is my birthday and I think this could fall under “Best Present Ever” category. Let the celebrations begin!

Thank you, Thorne! A triple whammy indeed! A trifecta! Maybe I should head to the races ;) Jessica
