Movin’ On Up!

by Jessica The Rock Chick on May 18, 2009 · 11 comments

I feel like I’ve traded in my tiny studio for a deee-luxe apartment in the sky! Welcome to rantsrock.com, The Rock Chick’s new home! Yesterday was my three year blogiversary and I’ve decided that since I stuck with blogging this long, I deserve to play alongside the big boys and girls. Now I’m up in the big leagues, getting my turn at bat.

As you can tell, I’ve moved from Blogger over to my own space and domain name and it’s all powered by Wordpress, of course.

I shouldn’t say “of course” because I’m still not all that fond of Wordpress yet, but I have no idea what else could power my blog. I’m stuck until I either find out or I learn to love it. It wasn’t an easy switch. I had a heck of a time importing my three years worth of Blogger posts. It took a whole lotta trying just to get up that hill and I’m still climbing. The last 12 months (which, coincidentally, is when I switched from Old Blogger to New Blogger) of posts just will not import. UGH! For now, I will leave them up at the Original Life is Rantastic!

Still, it was time. Between the dissolution of Thursday Thirteen and my back surgery five months ago, I think I have about five regular readers left and a Technorati score of (gasp!) 14. I know the economy’s been tough on everyone, but that’s a far cry from my almost there A-List Blogebrity days and dreaming of limo rides with Paris Hilton.

So, welcome again to my new digs and if any of you Wordpress geniuses have any input, suggestions for must have plugins, ideas to get my last twelve months of posts transferred over, get my comments e-mailed to me, how to find a contact form that actually works, or ideas as to why my header only appears when it feels like it, your advice would be most appreciated.

In the meantime, I’m returning to what I love most about blogging…the writing!

Whee! You will like it, girlfriend. It’s a struggle to first learn WP, but you won’t go back. I look forward to seeing what you do! I’m a regular reader…I just have been on the road. You know I love you madly.

Shelly, you know I love you madly, too. Believe me, you’re on my forever bloggy buddy list. I learned a lot this weekend, so hopefully, the rest will come along, too. Love you, Jessica

I am no help… it took me a few seconds too long to figure out where the comment place was!

Have you seen slumdog millionaire yet? I plan on writing a review eventually, but it was, in short, amazing! We watched it last night and I am still excited about it :)

@ Jessica, Thank you and YES! I broke my 9 year “no movie theater” streak (seriously!) to see Slumdog Millionaire. I hate movie theaters, but I was so anxious to see it based on what everyone was saying that I went. It was AMAZING! I loved it! Thanks for stopping over-Jessica

This is great news. Getting a look you like would probably be my first recommendation. After that yep … the writing :) I’m sure you’ll enjoy exploring Wordpress. If you ever get insanely tangled up, just revert to default.

Let me know if you want something and can’t seem to make it happen. I’ve wandered around the corners of Wordpress a time or two!

Congrats on the new digs!

Thanks, Damien! I knew you’d be pleased! I was tangled most of the weekend, but I did figure it out, so there’s something to be said for that.

Thanks, Paul/Rex! I hope so, too, but if not, I’ve kept my comfy blog up!

Yeah it’s always best to host your blog on your own domain.

It’s good that you switched to your own domain. Why aren’t you fond of wordpress though? The control panel is really easy to use and there are some nice templates and plugins available.
